Take a look at this step-by-step process on installing a BBK Power-Plus Series Throttle Body on the 5.7L Hemi. We turn to the guys at BBK Performance Parts for their guidance on doing this install on an ’08 Challenger. This first segment get’s you started. Be sure to stay tuned for Part 2 of this must-read how-to!
Controlled horsepower is a beautiful thing. It’s great to know that when you bury the fun pedal and dive into a corner that you have the right gear under the hood and in the suspension to accept the challenge. In factory trim with the right power plant, a ’71 Chevelle was a decent performer on the straight line, but when it came to twisty back roads, you had better hang on.
Have it your way may be a well-known advertising tagline, but the crew at the SpeedFactory thinks that they have a better one, “Your imagination is our blueprint.” The crew at SpeedFactory rounds up the latest in Dodge and Chrysler iron and then takes them to the next level. Today we look at the ’09 SpeedFactory Challenger SF700R.
In the tire-smoking and camshaft-thumping world of high performance muscle car art there are all sorts of ways in which enthusiasts choose to enjoy their cars. Some like to take a Sunday drive and grin from ear to ear when the loud pedal is mashed and their spine is forced back against the seat. Others build them to roll to a cruise night and turn heads, while some just hold the fabrication pedal all the way down and don’t lift it until they have the baddest (insert Chevy, Ford or Mopar here) on the planet.
“Intense.” This is the first word that came to mind when describing the Hurst Performance Series 4 Camaro. The car packs a wallop from the moment your eyes take a mental snapshot to the time you climb behind the wheel, crank the key and hear all 600 hp/580 ft-lb of torque (at the crank) of supercharged muscle rumble to life. As we sank into the Hurst embossed leather interior the Hurst Hard-Drive shifter begged to be beat on as we dumped the clutch and rowed through the high performance potential of this late-model tire shredder.
If you’ve dealt with bodywork or any sort of painting, then you know the trials of doing this work on a regular basis. Problems are common for even the best painters, but knowing how to repair those flaws is the difference between success and failure. Whether it’s something that happens before, during or after the painting process, the man holding the spray gun is usually responsible for fixing it, no matter the severity. In this case, Danny Parton is the painter, and we followed along as he repaired the quarter panel on a ‘72 Plymouth Barracuda.
Nobody likes to feel ignored, least of all a muscle car. Even so, this awesome ’70 Chevelle sat for seven long years neglected in somebody’s garage. The previous owner took some half-hearted steps at restoration, but both the bodywork and engine needed some serious attention, so he basically threw up his hands.
You’ve been waiting for it–Part 2 of the step-by-step tutorial on installing a Detroit Speed QUADRALink Rear Suspension System. The folks at Detroit Speed and Engineering show us how it’s done. Check it out after the jump!
We admit it, we don’t like leaf spring-based suspensions. They may have been fine when this now-radical RS Camaro was new and their shortcomings were not so glaring given the stock horsepower, bias ply tires and drum brakes of the day all conspired to hold the car back performance-wise.
Steve Allen had been searching for the better part of two years for a solid ‘67 Galaxie 500 to use as the foundation for his next hot rod project. He had found quite a few cars, but they all had rust issues, or had been in a wreck, or were in a million pieces. Then one day while driving past a really clean car parked at the local gas station he had been passing for years, he noticed something different—a for sale sign. He made a U-turn and went back to the gas station to take a closer look at the car. It looked really solid and was pretty much completely stock. He popped his head in the station and much to his surprise learned that the car belonged to an old friend. After some good old Southern haggling, a deal was struck, and Steve finally had the car he had been looking for.
